Career is an important reality in our life. When we finish our schooling, we start thinking about career. In Indian context previously our parents used to choose career for us but now they allow us to choose our career by ourselves. Sometimes when the parents are of old mind set they don’t even come handy for us when we needed a proper career guide in time.
STEP –I
Ask God for Direction: when I finished my schooling I found it very difficult to choose my next step in higher studies. I don’t remember on what basis I chose my career. I just prayed to God for proper discretion and direction and then chose something trusting on God.
So, before choosing any career the first and foremost thing we should not forget is prayer and asking God for direction. I believe and have full confidence that He will surely give His direction to choose our career.
STEP – II
In this step, we need to consider 3 very important factors prayerfully, which I call ‘3M-Factors’ in short to remember easily. Those are as follows:
1. Morality Factor: When we choose a career we should always remember our conscience and God’s standard.
“
Choosing a career is not easy yet unavoidable. When
we finish our schooling, we start thinking about career.
”
2. Motivation Factor: We should choose a career for which our heart longs for. First we should ask a question to ourselves, ‘what drives me or my life?’ We should always choose a career for which we get motivated every moment. We should be passionate about it, not just to earn something for living. The result will be greater and better in that particular field because we put our whole heart behind it.
3. Monetary Factor: Money is essential for living. We should not misunderstand this fact. I don’t say that we should have craze for money but we should consider the monetary factor because we are responsible for our family. Isn’t it? But mind it, when we choose to be a full time worker in Lord’s kingdom then this monetary factor doesn’t come into picture even. Of course it is true that ‘whatever we do, we have to do it with all our heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.’
Two Important Aspects to keep in mind:
We are now ready to choose our careers on the basis of ‘3M-Factors’, but I want to tell about two very important aspects after we choose one career. Those are as follows:
1. Focus: When we choose a career we should be focused in our ambition. We should not be dwindling. Focus on God and focus on our aim will give us success that we always aspire for.
2. Flexibility: We should be flexible in all our choices, steps, careers etc. Many times we may have to face failures. At that moment of failure we should be flexible enough to come out of that and change our way of life in starting a new venture. Even sometimes motivation factor and morality factor clash with each other and the time demands to go with only one factor, while choosing our career. Trust me we will have to forget about the motivation factor or the career that we always aspire to adopt. We have to go on with the Morality Factor.
Lastly, let’s remember the STEP – I, when we come out of the school and look out for a new career, “Ask God for Directions”.
Stay Blessed!
