Summer + Vacation = What’s that?

Any vacations during my school days was not a pleasurable time for me. Because due to my heart problem I was restricted to home only. I used to go out of my home only to the school and to the church on Sundays. All other time I had to stay at home, reading a book, studying, painting and day dreaming.

But in summer vacations I used to get opportunities to attend a 10 days ‘Vacation Bible School’ in the church. I used to really enjoy VBS to the highest. We used to have story time, puzzles, drawing, colouring the bible pictures, games and snacks & chocolates. Those ten days in the whole summer vacation was very precious in my lonely time at that period of my life. Otherwise I used to stay at home day dreaming.

 Now, I am scared of summer. The heat makes me feel sick as I have polycythemic tendencies for my cardiac problem. Another important change in ‘Summer Vacation’ is, both the words seemed to be divorced for last 10 years, as there is nothing called vacation in my busy office days. The vacation is having an affair with the winter now, as I get 2 weeks winter vacation during the Christmas. Yes! Winter vacation has many memories when we all get together every year after whole years of work, pain, suffering, separation and so on. Even we go for picnics in winter only. It’s just the opposite happens here in India in comaprison to the western countries because of climatic differences.

Life is great without vacation and I love it. Stay Blessed!

Hi Chiradeep and thank you for sharing this. I am sorry to hear of you're heart problem, however this doesnt seem to have held you back from getting the great things out of life, and one being your wondeful wife you pointed out, and your love for Jesus Christ.

Hi Kacy! Thanks a lot for reading and commenting. I was grumbling when I was a teenager for my problem but now I praise God for what He made. My wife is a great support system for my life. She works so much, both household and as a teacher in a school. I work in a Non-profiteering Organisation as an Accountant.
