Today, on Sunday in the evening, I devoted my time completely on writing the last part of a series which I have been contributing to a magazine for publication. After finishing the same, I thought of writing an article for my beloved community, SW.
Suddenly a thought came to my mind, ‘what I am in my family or home?’
‘What the other members of my family think of me?’
‘Do they feel that I am worth to be a part of their lives?’
‘Do they really thank God for me?’
‘Do I really have any image in my own immediate family or extended family?’
‘If I die today will they weep just for missing a family member or missing a great help, a guide, an important organ of the family?’
I was troubled with all these questions. I felt like blaming SW for these thoughts....
In real life we may be a counselor, a guide, a care giver, a whatever…, but when our family doesn’t look up to us then we are nothing.
If our children suffer from drug addictions as we don’t have time for them then what’s the use of being a counselor in drug addiction centre and helping the addicts to come back from the hell to a normal, healthy world!
If we are adored and respected as a good teacher in the schools or colleges yet our own children don’t learn proper values in life, then what’s our worth being a good teacher!
If we don’t care about our own parents yet we are honored as the best staff in an old age home, then how does it value us in front of our children! Will they respect us?
If we do not have patience to listen to our spouses yet we take marital relationship sessions in big seminars and churches, then how does it help us or our partners or family!
We are called the messiah for the street children yet our own family struggles because of our procrastination and negligence towards them.
In the Bible, Paul instructs Timothy about the characters that an overseer of the church should possess. He says, “If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?" 1 Tim 3:5.
Have we ever thought about all these? Have we ever cared to change our attitudes towards our own family members? Have we ever tried to set an example in our own family?
Let’s consider all these today and try to leave a name or legacy behind us…stay blessed.

I think you ask important questions, Chiradeep. I also think that a person's good deeds in the world are meaningless if they don't treat those closest to them with love and respect. Thanks Jen for agreeing with what I think...
Very thought provoking questions you have put dear....Thanks...for commenting sweetie...
Very nice article Chiradeep. Family first before the rest of the world.GraceYes, if we can't take care of our family then how can we help others. Thanks for commenting.
Interesting....certainly gets one thinking about their own family...a bit difficult though, I only speak to my brother, and he only speaks to me, and then we have our children.
I always say to get perspective look at the Bible's progression: God and Adam first, Adam and Eve (family and marriage) second and it wasn't until many, many years later that the church came into being and I think that should be our take on priorities now...eh? THANKS!
This article is a prescription for community health! Ask the kids. They know who the best father and mothers are. This is a true focusing of attention on where the true heart of social health begins. Amen to you brother.
