Acceptance of Gay Relationship: Are We not Compromising with Moral Values?

Recently the Delhi High Court decriminalized gay relationship. It was a great day for homosexuals in India; they were dancing, singing and hugging each other with joy. In fact, after the law was passed, there was news about two gay marriages taking place in different parts of the country. There were many debates and discussion forums broadcast in various TV channels. Some supported this decision while some raised their voices in anger.

It was shocking to hear of this ruling; I never thought these things can happen in India, a country which has always admired and adopted good value systems. One of my colleagues said that even an insect understands its sexual behaviour; a male insect always mates with a female. But human beings, the crown of creation, they cannot understand it. They do not want to understand it. That is sad.

Recently, I was reading a book and a few statements really attracted my attention because they were so true and valuable for everyone to understand. Here are some of them:

"God sees abortion as murder. Satan sees it as family planning."

"God sees cheating in business is a sin. Satan sees it as shrewd business practice."

"God calls drinking as a sin of drunkenness. Satan calls it alcoholism, as if it’s a disease."

"God calls gambling a sin. Satan calls it recreation."

"God calls lust as a sin of adultery. Satan says it’s a harmless natural desire."

"God calls homosexuality an abominable sin. Satan calls it as an alternative lifestyle."

If we view things from God’s perspective, we can understand what is right and wrong, but once we start seeing things from Satan’s point of view we compromise with everything. We just take things for granted. We misuse our free will. Unfortunately that’s what happening in this world today. The world sees everything from Satan’s point of view instead of seeing things from God’s point of view. The world is legalizing sin every now and then. Sin is no more seen as sin, but it has become a way of life. This trend of the world may take it to severe devastation soon as God had warned about the consequences many times through His word.

Today, I wanted all to rise up against sin. Never forget the natural way of living. Honour Godly values. Let’s not compromise with moral values as it can lead to dangerous consequences. Let’s hold on, for our ultimate goal is not earthly, but heaven bound.

Excellent article on an explosive subject. We always need God's perspective - he loves the sinner (whether that be murderer, sexual sin including adultery, homosexual relations, fornication etc.) thief, liar, etc but He died to set us all free from our sin. Thanks for tackling this subject, Brother and I am blessed to call you Brother!

I'm also an RN and heard a talk once that made very great sense physiologically about how homosexuals were not "created" for anal intercourse. It is technical and maybe not appropriate to post but totally did away with the "born that way" argument.

Also, if God created some "that way" why would He speak in His Word over and over about it being unnatural for a man to lie with a man etc. AND an abomination? You are stating what the bible believes and can in no way deviate or compromise the Word of God and I am so glad that you are bold enough to stand for truth. There is absolute truth and someday all will be able to realize that. I hope and pray that many will realize "sooner" rather than later. Blessings and please write whatever He lays on your heart - you will always have an avid reader in me.

Its a blessing reading your comments and confirming of what I was thinking. So what I had written as 'that way' is not at all necessary. What I had written originally in the article is God's perspective and the truth.

civilizatiion have different faiths and different interpretations of God and culture values.West moral support it, is different from the culture India. In India, 99% eat fresh foods and mostly vegetarian. In the western 99% of people eat processed foods and stored, and especially non-vegetarian. It is known- most people who eat fresh foods enjoy sexual organism more than those who eat processed foods and stored non-vegetarians.

Delhi High Court decision in favor of gays taking place in India, a country which has always admired and adopted systems of good nature value, because India has adopted the legal system given by the British since indepedence. Again people in India are 90.% illetrate, but it help politicians to ignore their feelings and their rights.

Religion, culture, civilization can vary but not God's standard. God's standard is same all.

Well, Chiradeep, you have the right to your opinion. But what you say looks to me like the sort of prejudice that causes massive suffering and does not contribute to world peace in any way. I'm not entirely convinced that God is speaking through you.

Perhaps if God really speaks to us and tells us these things, we would probably opt to adhere to them. Let's not quote God's words unless we understand his intended wisdom and magic. Let's remember that he didn't stop speaking and demonstrating things when the written bible was complete. He has continued to speak to us in many ways and the values that he has tried to instill in us all began with LOVE and will end with LOVE. We must learn to LOVE first, and teach others the same. And let's also be aware of the fact that no one in their right mind would listen to satan.

Stay Blessed!

Chiradeep,

I think you are confusing two different issues, "God's law" as Christians see it in the Bible and "civil law" as governments must enact it to protect their citizens. While you start by mentioning decriminalizing homosexuality, you then go on to compare it to gambling, adultery, lust, etc none of which are "criminal". So you are not comparing apples to apples. I believe there are many things the Bible speaks of as sin but to say that all of those should be criminal in the eyes of civil law is a different argument all together.

Should we revert to the Old Testament way of stoning adulterers? I think the issue here is what is the appropriate way to handle "sins" as opposed to illegal acts.

Thanks for thinking about this with me. I will tell you some others things that trouble me about this issue. As Christians, we teach that God loves sinners (which is ALL of us by the way), yet we constantly single out homosexuals like they are some special category of sinners that we don't have to give the same love and acceptance to. In the Bible, there are very few references to homosexual behavior and they are very vague. There are many references to lying, cheating, stealing, adultery, hate, anger, fear, etc, etc, but no one tries to exclude all of those people from the love of Jesus. We tell those folks that Jesus loves them where they are and his grace will cover all. We love them where they are and believe God will change their hearts as they allow him to. There is a list in Proverbs of the 6 things God hates and then a 7th is added... it's a very interesting list:

Haughty eyes (arrogance)

A Lying tongue

Hands that shed innocent blood

A Heart that plots wicked schemes

Feet quick to do evil

A witness who lies

A Man who stirs up dissension among brothers

I want my list of evil things to be in line with things that God considers evil. Someone mentioned that "homosexuals were not "created" for anal intercourse", strictly speaking, God did not create us to do ANY evil but after the fall of man described in Genesis, all evil came into the world by man's choices. As Christians, we must believe that grace saves all mankind and covers all sin or it doesn't cover anyone or anything. We can not have it both ways.

Jean! I am really happy the way you commented and what you commented. I agree with you fully. I have never mixed up with 'my love for the sinners' and 'God calling a sin, sin.'

I shared God's standard. I didn't side tracked Homosexuals anyway in the article. I can't do that. My saviour doesn't allow of it. In my article "Decriminalization of Homosexuality" is an introduction to what i wanted to share. And I shared God's standard. That's clear and simple.

Well, Chradeep, I admire you for caring for the moral values of your country. It seems like Western societies are using their financial power and cultural influence to make the rest of the world in their image. The new morality has become the old sin. You've been courageous enough to blow the whistle on it. ~mogama~

Thanks Mogama! I am not only caring for the moral of my country but also for the moral of the whole world and concerned about God's moral standard for us.

Hello Chiradeep.

I can feel your heart. I know it is not one of harsh judgement of hatred. But rather keeping to the standards God has set, not only for this sin but all sin, as you pointed out in your article. I think the problem is too many people confuse God's love with God's standards and commandments. His love for all mankind - saved and unsaved never changes. As the Scripture points out nothing can separate us from the love of God. But God also points out that our sin will separate us from God and His kingdom. I believe that Scripture and history shows that nations are judged when sinful behavior of any kind is promoted. I know you do not hate homosexuals or any other sinner for that matter, I have seen you reach out so that sinners would turn from sin in repentance to the loving and Holy God. Thank you for being voice - I don't see anything in your article that promotes hatred. Blessings to you! Teresa

I agree with Sister Teresa,

Chiradeep didn't intend to spread hatred or condemn the homosexuals. He just wanted to share the standard of God before all of us to follow. I can see his love for others who are not aware of God's standard. He wanted to aware everybody which he knows from God's word.

Chiradeep, I agree that everything you've listed here (except for one, and I'll get to that later) is a sin. You are obviously an honorable person who loves God and hates sin, and is not ashamed to say so. In that regard, I wish there where more people like you. That attitude is indeed in short supply in today's politically correct, new-age-infested world in which people don't want to hear about condemnation of sin anymore. I agree with Teresa that "the problem is too many people confuse God's love with God's standards and commandments." Also, like Teresa pointed out, there's nothing in your article that promotes hatred. You should be commended, not criticized.

Now, with that being said, I do have to agree with Jean that not everything that is a sin should be criminalized. God gave people free will to choose to sin or choose not to sin. If people want to commit adutery, fornication, or homosexual acts , what is that to me? Those are all sins, of course, but what harm are the people who are committing them doing to you and me? Yes, they will have to answer to God, but why should they also have to answer to humans if they are not hurting anyone? Humans need not enforce God's laws. Let Him take care of that.

We should criminalize only those things that have a direct, specific, and clearly identifiable victim. No victim, no crime. It is the responsibility of human laws to protect people's lives, health, and property. They shouldn't worry about anything else. By the way, just because we don't criminalize something doesn't mean we think it's right or good. Look at that "preacher" in Florida who plans to burn the Islamic Holy Book this weekend. About 95% of Americans disagree with him, but yet we are still allowing him to do it. Why? Because of a concept in this country called freedom - freedom to do good, or to do evil.

Now, regarding the one thing you listed as a sin that I disgree with you about: You said, "God calls gambling a sin. Satan calls it recreation." Where and when did God say this? I've read the Holy Bible all the way through at least 4 times have not come across a single reference to gambling being sin. Can you show me where God says this? Are you sure it's not just some preacher, church, or denomination that is saying this? Remember, you are not supposed to add anything to or subtract anything from the Holy Scriptures.
