(This was my first poem ever which I had written for the first issue of my publication CANDLES , in 2005. The first THREE stanzas were originally published in CANDLES . But today I extended it further for SearchWarp. Hope you all may like it. It talks about a very personal experience and deep relationship of mine with my Saviour.)
When I was all alone,
You came as a friend,
You gave me a hope,
And assured me a home.
Oh Lord! Make me your own,
Stir my spirit up,
Never leave me alone…
When I was in great fear,
You stretched out your arms,
And hugged me so tight.
You promised to stay near.
Oh Lord! Make me your own,
Stir my spirit up,
Never leave me alone…
When I was down, in grief
You held my hands,
And you filled my heart,
With your peace and relief.
Oh Lord! Make me your own,
Stir my spirit up,
Never leave me alone…
When I was struggling, in dark despair
You thought of me to restore,
You consoled me, n’ showed a light,
As shining as the Sun, clear & bright.
Oh Lord! Make me your own,
Stir my spirit up,
Never leave me alone…
When I came as a sinner, filthy & gross
You looked at me, in deep love,
You said ‘I will die for you’,
N’ stretched out your arms on the Cross.
Oh Lord! Make me your own,
Stir my spirit up,
Never leave me alone…
When I trusted you & on your act,
You clothed me with righteousness.
You warned me ‘not to sin again,'
N’ promised to bless me with heavenly riches.
Oh Lord! Make me your own,
Stir my spirit up,
Never leave me alone…
When I came, stained with sin again,
You washed my feet,
And made me stained free.
You gave me time to revive & regain.
Oh Lord! Make me your own,
Stir my spirit up,
Never leave me alone…
Lord! I know I can’t be perfect,
Till I enter my heavenly home,
But you give me the power of the Holy Spirit,
To guide me and make me whole.
Oh Lord! Make me your own,
Stir my spirit up,
Never leave me alone…
